Maine High Adventure Program
Backcountry Canoe Travel
Maine High Adventure offers multi-day treks through out some of the nations most beautiful and historically rich forests and waterways. Travel lakes, rivers and streams within almost 4 million acres of working forest that is the North Maine Woods. Each crew's backcountry trek is individually designed to match the desires, abilities, interests and preferences of the group.
Historic Field Visitations
Maine High Adventure treks can include travel to many historic sites within the North Maine Woods. Treks with Maine High Adventure offer historic interpretation and visitation of some of Maine's most famous and industrious logging sites of it's past including The East and West Branch Penobscot rivers, St. Croix river as well as the Allagash waterway.
Take part in witnessing some of the nation's densest wildlife areas. "More Moose than people" is a common saying in the north Maine woods and holds its truth! Maine High Adventure offers interpretation from your guide on the many plants and animals you will encounter during your trek.
Like everything the Maine High Adventure program offers, optional white water canoe travel allows your crew to really put those Scout skills to the test!
Maine has some of the nation's most reputable whitewater from entry level features all the way to professional challenge.
The Maine High Adventure program offers our participants a choice in safe class 1, 2 or 3 white water difficulty along their trek. These can be challenging days but well worth the adrenaline rush!
You have to eat good when you are on the trail!
The Maine High Adventure program teaches every participant skills, safety and etiquette around the camp fire.
Some lunches and snacks are better kept simple on the trail but dinner during Maine High Adventure treks is cooked each night over an open fire.
Maine High Adventure offers entirely custom trek designs and itineraries to every crew. Crew members explain their priorities and preferences to the Maine High Adventure trip planner and treks are individually designed for every crew on their first day.
